Electricity Engineers Association (EEA)

Hiko is a Corporate Member of the EEA, which provides the New Zealand electricity industry with expertise, advice and information on technical, engineering and safety issues. Two of our team are individual professional members.

We are regular contributors to the EEA conference, exhibition and industry workshops. Through our participation in these events and by making submissions on guidelines and standards, we help to provide the EEA with a representative and authoritative ‘electricity supply industry voice’ to the Government, regulators, professional bodies, standards organisations and other stakeholders.

We also participate in EEA organised professional development training.

EPECentre

Hiko sponsors the EPECentre, New Zealand’s Centre of Research Excellence for Electric Power Engineering, through our membership of the Power Engineering Excellence Trust. The EPECentre works to encourage more students into power engineering at the University of Canterbury, build strong relationships with industry, develop high achieving electric power engineers in New Zealand, and foster innovation and research.

We participate in EPECentre events, including the GREEN Grid Conference and R&D Expo and by hosting field visits and seminars. Through the EPECentre we have access to electrical, thermal and mechanical test facilities at the University of Canterbury, which we use to provide assurance that our products are fit for purpose and reliable over the long term.
